In this guide, Svetlana Gizatulina explains how to set up a bot that automatically awards points, boosting member activity and turning your group into a real community of like-minded people!
Step 1 — Connect your bot to puzzlebot
You can find out how in the Knowledge Base: https://help.puzzlebot.top/article?r=3&a=18
Step 2 — Create variables to track points and statuses
To create variables for tracking points and statuses, open the Variables section and create 4 variables:
1. bally - a personal variable for awarding points.
2. status - a personal variable for storing the status.
3. bally_gr - a global variable for showing points in the group.
4. status_gr - a global variable for showing the status in the group.
These variables let you automatically track and update both members' points and their statuses.
Step 3 — Create categories for assigning statuses
To create categories for assigning statuses, go to the group and open the Moderation section. There, create member categories that reflect their activity based on the points they've scored, for example:
1. Newbie — for members with up to 100 points.
2. Advanced — for members with 101 to 200 points.
3. Professional — for members with 200 points or more.
Step 4 — Set up conditions for changing statuses
To set up conditions for changing statuses, open the Constructor section and create a Condition command. Add a name, then set up the rule.
1. For Check type, choose Variable value. Then select the bally variable and set the rule to ≤100.
2. For Action type, choose Change categories. To set up the category change in the group, enable Newbie.
3. For Action type, choose Change variable. Set the status variable to Newbie. Set the status_gr variable to status.
Duplicate the rule and set it up for the other categories.
Save the changes to the command and upload them to the bot.
Step 5 — Set up a trigger for awarding points
To set up a trigger for awarding points, go to the group and open the Triggers section. Add a trigger and rename it. Open the new trigger and configure what happens when a user sends a message:
1. Message type — set to Text.
2. Send type — set to Reply to user.
3. Condition type — set to Message contains.
4. Phrases — add the phrases the bot will react to, for example: "thank you" and "thx"
For the part of the trigger where the bot performs actions, set up:
1. An action to add points. For Action type, set Change variable. Choose the personal variable bally and specify how many points to add. Check Run for the user who received the reply
2. An action to show points in the group. For Action type, set Change variable. Choose the global variable bally_gr and set it equal to bally.
Check Run for the user who received the reply
3. An action to assign a category. For Action type, set Command or condition. For the send location, choose Bot. Specify the name of the Condition command you created in Step 4.
Check Run for the user who received the reply
4. An action to send a message to the group. For Action type, set Text message. For the send location, choose Resource. Add the message text, for example:
{{ REPLY_TO_FIRST_NAME}}, you've been awarded 5 points for your help
Total: {{bally_gr}} points
Status: {{status_gr}}
Save the changes and test the bot.
