A month ago, we wrote that Telegram was preparing Premium. And just the other day, the Beta version of Telegram for Android features that very subscription.
Well, we've put together an overview of all the benefits for you.
Doubled limits
Paid subscription will greatly expand some limits of the limits application - as a rule, the allowed limits will double:
Number of chats in a folder (100 → 200).
The limit of channels and supergroups in subscriptions (500 → 1000).
Number of folders (10 → 20).
Number of pinned dialogs in the main tab (5 → 10) and within a folder (100 → 200).
Number of public links for their channels and supergroups (10 → 20).
Number of favorite stickers (5 → 10).
Number of saved GIF animations (200 → 400).
Number of accounts with unique numbers connected to the app (3 → 4).
Downloads up to 4GB
Telegram Premium users will be able to download large files up to 4GB to the messenger cloud.
Users who will not purchase a subscription will still be able to send media up to 2GB. The app's storage is still limitless for anyone using Telegram.
Higher download speeds
No more limits on media and document download speeds! Paid subscribers will be able to download needed files to the app's cache many times faster than before - due to a higher priority for such downloads.
Convert voice messages to text
Now it's not obligatory to listen to voice messages: decode the content of incoming audio with one click and convert your interlocutor's voice to a convenient text format.
No limits on the length of recognizable messages.
No ads
Sponsored posts, which are natively displayed at the end of the feed after all postings have been read, will no longer appear in large open channels.
The benefit applies only to Premium subscribers. Paid tools to disable ads for the entire audience are still not available to channel administrators.
Unique reactions
Subscription users will be able to leave additional animated reactions under posts that won't be part of the standard set (it now includes 16 emoji).
Premium stickers
The sticker storefront will begin adding monthly sets that include exclusive stickers with full-screen effects. Only Telegram Premium owners will be able to send these stickers to the chat.
Advanced dialog management
Subscribers will be able to set any tab as a default folder (currently it is "All chats").
Dialogs will be hidden in the form of their automatic archiving. This tool was previously available not to all users, but only to those whose accounts meet certain criteria.
Profile icon
A distinctive star badge placed next to the subscriber's name will make him or her stand out from other users.
Animated avatars
Video avatars will be animated not only when the user's profile is expanded, but also in chat lists and conversations.
For non-Premium users, the video avatar will remain static on a pre-selected frame in the above cases.
Additional application icons
Unlock a wider selection of uncommon icons for Telegram by subscribing to Telegram Premium.
We have learned that subscriptions will cost $4.99 per month. At the moment, it is impossible to buy a subscription.
Does Telegram Premium stand a chance?
This is the big problem with the cool free products: what new features can I add that are not too offensive to free users, but would be willing to pay for it?
Telegram already has everything for free, and it is not an option to charge for some of the existing functions. Introducing new special features that everyone will want, but for a fee - again, competitors.
That leaves the option of minor bonuses, which seem nice, but we can live without them.
