A multifunctional mini app for Yandex Practicum

The team asked for a platform to support an in-person conference for executives and HR professionals.

Key goals of the platform:

  • Create a single space for conference attendees with all the event information (schedule, speakers, FAQ), easy to access on the spot.

  • Keep attendees informed about what's happening at the conference in real time (for example, remind them about a talk).

  • Let attendees sign up for workshops with limited seating.

  • Facilitate networking between conference attendees.

  • Add extra features from event partners, for example, a test from a partner psychology service.

1. Event schedule

When users open the mini app, they land on a menu where they can view the event schedule, learn more about the speakers and find other up-to-date information.

The event featured 12 panel discussions on one stage and 2 workshops on another. A mini app was the perfect fit here!

Unlike posting information on a website or sending an email, opening Telegram and checking the schedule on the spot takes just a couple of minutes.

2. Workshop sign-up

On the day of the event, we also opened sign-ups for the workshops, since the venue had limited seating. This way, there were no problems distributing attendees across the workshops.

A few minutes before each workshop, the bot sent a reminder to the attendees who had signed up.

3. Networking

Besides providing information, the bot also handled interactive activities during the conference!

To give attendees more motivation to interact with each other, we prepared special questions and tasks.

For example: Meet an executive who has been in a leadership role for less than a year. What stereotype about leadership have they had to face?

Attendees who completed 5 tasks received a gift.

We also added a check for submitted tasks: an answer had to be at least 100 characters long.

Technically, this was a really interesting challenge: we built a randomizer so that attendees wouldn't all get the same questions, and we also made sure no question was repeated!

4. FAQ

We added an FAQ section that mirrors the one on the website.

5. Partner test

We added a dedicated section for event partners and built a small automated funnel where users can take a leadership style test and get a useful guide as a bonus.

6. Venue map

To help attendees quickly find the event venue and nearby partner venues, we created a section with built-in maps that open right inside the mini app.

This case shows how a Telegram mini app can become a full-fledged platform for supporting an in-person event. In a single interface, attendees got access to the schedule, activity sign-ups, reminders, interactive features and partner offers, with no websites, emails or separate services. Everything worked where users already spend time every day.

For organizers, this means less manual work, less chaos during the event and higher audience engagement. A mini app lets you manage the attendee experience throughout the event, from the first step to the final interaction.
